This is a Paldao Burled-Acacia Speaker Cabinet, designed by Gilbert Rohde for Herman Miller in 1941. This example dates to the same time. It was produced in the USA, and was featured in Herman Miller’s first showroom design. Rohde was Herman Miller’s first design director, and his modernist vision for the company changed the face of Herman Miller forever. This cabinet is an example from the 80-piece collection, which centered around modular furniture in exotic veneers. The case top and sides are done in Paldao wood, and the drop down door features a Burled Acacia front.

This cabinet measures 17 inches deep, 40 inches wide, and 42 inches high. There are some blemishes on the top surface, and some veneer damage to the bottom left corner. There is a label inside the drawer. We have intentionally left the speaker equipment inside of the piece intact for the sake of preservation, though it can certanly be removed. There are some slight scratches and scuffs that remain, though overall, the piece is in very good condition. Please see photos.
