This is a special and fairly rare Oak Cabinet, devised in the early 1970s by Davis Allen during his forty-year tenure at SOM. SOM refers to the architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, an important firm known for projects such as Lever House and Sears Tower. It features lush oak siding on its front, back, and sides, and it sports chromed steel pulls, legs, and trim. The piece is fully finished on all sides, allowing it to float in a room. It was produced by General Fireproofing, a furniture manufacturer who regularly partnered with SOM on important interiors and furniture projects.

This cabinet measures 20.5 inches deep, 33.5 inches wide, and 26.25 inches high. There are some small superficial scrapes and nicks to the veneer, and there are some light scratches on the chromed-steel frame. A label for General Fireproofing is on the inside of the right drawer. Overall, this piece is in very good condition with light wear. Please see photos.
