This is a ‘Brno’ Armchair, model MR50, designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe & Lily Reich in 1929. This particular piece was produced by Knoll in the 1960s. The design features a flat bar steel frame that has an antiqued brushed-bronze finish, and has a brown leather upholstered seat and back. This example also has brown leather armrests. The flat-bar construction was a novel idea to emerge at the time, as the tubular stylings of the Bauhaus had but recently established themselves as le-mode-de-rigueur.

The chair measures 22.5 inches long, 22.75 inches wide and 31.5 inches high. The seat height is 17.5 inches, and the arm height is 25.75 inches. The steel frame is in good condition structurally, but the finish has several scratches, scuffs and rubs. There are marks and scratches to the leather upholstery, and the seat is firm. The Cambric mesh on the undercarriage of the chair has torn. It retains its original Knoll tags. Overall, this chair is in fair condition with wear apparent. Please see photos.
