This is a pair of Royalton Armchairs, designed by Philippe Starck, and produced by Driade shortly after the design s introduction in 1988. In the late 1980s, Starck was approached by hotelier Ian Schraeger to design a line of furniture for a new project he was working on, the Royalton Hotel in New York City. These large-scale armchairs were designed for the lobby. Each chair features curved front legs in polished cast aluminum and legs of solid beech in reverse. The chairs have solid steel frames with thick foam pads. They are currently upholstered in a rich brown velvet on the back, and have a light tan contrasting seat.

The price listed includes 2 chairs (the pair). Each chair measures 39 4 inches deep, 38.6 inches wide and 45.7 inches tall. They have a seat height of 17.75 inches.

These chairs are in very good used condition, but remain vintage and are not new. The legs have some minor marks and the upholstery shows wear as noted in the photos. The chairs could certainly be used as is or would be great candidates for new upholstery as well. Please see detailed photos.
